I am so very tired of people who have so little to do in this world! Get a job!!! Find something productive to do!! After I wrote tonight’s blog I went back to read the additional comments left on the blog written last night—four of them were spam received since this morning.
As a result, I am turning off the feature which allows anonymous users to leave comments. You must be a registered user—all this means is you must have a Google account such as Gmail or a Yahoo account such as Yahoo mail. I think Word Press users can also leave comments.
I hate to do this as the last time I removed anonymous commenters my comments dropped significantly—we will see. Thanks for understanding.
I so agree. I am just sick of these idiots. But I have to convince a very good friend to get a gmail account before I can block the jerks.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you will lose any readers over this. Too bad the spam gets through.
ReplyDeleteI have had no regrets since blocking 'Anonymous' quite awhile ago. It's true, the 'good people' comments do drop & that bothered me for awhile, but times change & I've just accepted that our blog comments are lower now than they once were.......
ReplyDeleteHmmm......I don't understand why comments would drop significantly on any blog just by blocking anonymous comments. For that to happen, a blogger would have had to be getting a lot of legitimate anonymous comments prior to restricting them. For example, on my blog I probably only average about 1 legitimate anonymous comment per week - if that.
ReplyDeleteSpam comments have increased significantly in the past few weeks and I'm not exactly sure why that is. Still, at least on my blog, Spam Detection is still catching 99.9% of them. The spams comments just go into my spam folder until I delete them.
I'd still rather take care of this myself than restrict others from having full access to my blog.
I had a lot of spam and really undesireable comments on my blog, too...which is part of the reason I stopped blogging. I've thought about starting up again and maybe I will. I look forward to reading your blog every day, Janna!
