Must Be A Birthday Weekend

Yes, instead of just a birth day, I’m having a birthday weekend!!  About lunchtime we received an email from Nancy saying they would like to meet us at the McLeod bar for a belated birthday dinner—well of course!!  Robyn & Claire joined Nancy, Geoff, Michael and me—we had an absolutely wonderful evening.  And I even received flowers—sunflowers from Nancy’s yard!  Thank you so much—Geoff & Nancy, Robyn & Claire—it was a great evening!!

Nat came for lunch today—I made meatloaf, garlic mashed potatoes from my garden, carrots from my garden with homemade chocolate ice cream for dessert—all delicious.

I had set a goal for today—to finish Mary P’s quilt—success and it is absolutely beautiful!!  I will deliver it this week and then everyone can see photos.

bear_closeHow would you like to meet up with this guy on the trail????  Look at those claws!!  This photo was in an article on our local news service, KTVQ.  A wildlife guy was flying around Yellowstone Park counting wolves when he saw this grizzly feeding on a buffalo carcass.  The wildlife guy said he was glad his plane got him out of there—the bear looked as if he wouldn’t mind another snack!!  YIKES!

  1. Happy Birthday - a day late and a dollar short. But I like the idea of having a birthday week-end. We're going to be celebrating Jim's birthday again tomorrow with a train ride. That is one big bear.

  5. I had occasion to see a sow grizzly up close and personal like that. Luckily the chopper engine kept running cause she was actually up on her hind legs swatting at us. We were actually trying to move her away from a group of guys we had working on the ground a couple of hundred feet away, and eventually she and her cubs moved off. That was back in the days that I used to wish I had a camera with me.

  7. Happy Birthday....I may have wished you one before, but once more won't hurt. I'll take a pass on meeting up with that bear. Our son & daughter-in-law just got back from Glacier NP and that was their one disappointment....they didn't see any bears. They would hike a trail one day and then the next day they would hear that trail was closed because of excessive bear activity, yet they never saw a one, just lots of gorgeous scenery.
