As I mentioned last night Nat and I headed to Billings fairly early this morning to see the dermatologist and the eye doctor. GEEZ—how in the world could two doctor’s appointments take all blessed day long????
Number one rant—if I am seeing a gynecologist who still delivers babies (which I don’t) I would expect the doctor to be running late on occasion—he’s delivering babies who wait for no one—I know, I’ve had to help deliver one myself when the doc didn’t get there!!!!! If I’m seeing the cardiologist or heart surgeon, I would expect emergencies, but the dermatologist????? Did someone have an exploding wart??? We waited 20 minutes past our appointment time at Billings Clinic before I said anything and probably 10 more minutes after I asked what was going on. Not one word of apology from the doctor when we were finally called. If the appointment had been for me I would have walked.
And another thing, if a person is 89 years old, odds are he STILL has Medicare and STILL has the same supplemental Medicare insurance he has had since he was 65 years old! Why is it EVERY time you go to the doctor you have to show your Medicare cards??????? What a total waste of time!!!!
Next stop was Costco to see the optometrist. That became a long, long involved process as the doctor thinks Nat may be having some glaucoma issues. She performed some additional tests and thinks he should see a glaucoma specialist. Poor Nat, he was exhausted when we left there. Nat chose to have new lenses put into frames he all ready has.
While Nat was being tortured I did my Costco shopping and we were ready to head to Famous Dave’s for lunch. A bad choice for some reason today. Took forever to get two sandwiches and our food was cold.
Can you tell it wasn’t a good day????? The weather stinks today, cold and very windy which just makes it so hard to do anything. I could hardly get the door open to Ace Hardware in the wind with a box of quilts in my arms—shipped Aunt Margaret and Marti’s quilts to them.
OK, I’m done, I’ve poured myself a large glass of wine and vented to my husband and all of you, I’m done!
Some days are like that, I hope tomorrow smooths out!! Beautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the wine will do the trick.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, and I thought these type of waits we had in Canada only.
ReplyDeleteGood to relax with a good glass of wine then.
When I run behind in clinic it's usually because I had to give a patient some bad news. Maybe your dermatologist had to tell someone they had malignant melanoma earlier in the day. That is a thing you don't rush through and is more important that worrying about my next patient's being upset about waiting.
ReplyDeleteWe are not supposed to say anything about it to next patients because of HIPPA, but I admit, I had a patient who was upset with me being a bit behind once, and I did say, "it's takes more than 10 minutes to tell someone they have metastatic cancer".That statement shut her right up.

It has been my experience that no doctor in this country ever sees you at the appointed time. So does that mean their time is more valuable than mine? Grrr!
ReplyDeleteBeing retired makes it easier to sit around and wait for the doctors. Not better but easier. Hope tomorrow is a much much better day.
ReplyDeleteExploding wart....good one!! LOL Maybe somewhere in the 2000 pages of the health care bill that nobody read there should have been something that says if patients have to wait more than 10 minutes for the doctor they can start docking the bill. But, of course, our time is worth nothing, theirs is more precious than gold.
ReplyDelete30 MINUTES ---THATS NOTHING. I ALWAYS WAIT THAT LONG. AND YES OUR MEDICARE INS. PLANS CAN CHANGE. WHEN U GET UPSET UPSET JUST PRAISE THE LORD WE STILL HAVE WONDERFUL DOCTORS &MEDICARE. RENEE
ReplyDeleteSome days you are the bug and some days the windshield!
ReplyDeleteMomma said there would be days like this right? And some days your the dog and other days your the hydrant :) !!!
ReplyDeleteThat was a lousy day all around. We also apply wine to those kind of days :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the wine!..sounds like you need it!..hope tomorrow is a better day!
ReplyDeleteSounds like your weather is getting the best of you. When are you leaving?

Many years ago I had a Doctor's appointment but when I arrived the receptionist said he had called in telling her to cancel his appointments. It was a nice warm and windy day so I headed to Wildwood Lake south of town to see if I could get some action photos of the wind surfers who frequented the Lake. I did. The next day looking over my shots I recognized one of the wind surfers as my Doctor. I enlarged that photo and at my next appointment I gave it to him. The photo I mean, not the dickens because I was a happy guy to have gotten out of that appointment on a nice warm windy day:))
ReplyDeleteGlad your day is over and hopefully the wine helped! Some days are just like that, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your rant even though I hate to admit it but I was smiling a lot while reading it!!
ReplyDeleteWe all seem to experience "those days" from time to time. It seems as though it is planned to help us appreciate the good ones.
ReplyDeleteI would have the tendency to walk. In fact, I do just that - often! I can be a bit impatient. I, however, can be very patient when my questions are answered truthfully. To be waiting in an office with nary a word about why there are delays is insulting and most unacceptable.
That's my rant!
Glad we were here for you ~ It's nice to have someplace to vent isn't it??? Hope it all goes better for you!!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun & Travel safe
