Our First Day In Cedar Key

We took our time starting the day, drinking coffee, reading blogs—Michael did a little stock buying, I did a load of laundry in my handy/dandy on board washer/dryer.  On that note, the laundromat at this resort is on the back porch of the clubhouse, outside—which tells me it doesn’t get very cold here—two washers and two dryers.

Lunch outside in the sun at the picnic table then we headed into Cedar Key to check out the town.  Oh, my!!!  It is stunningly beautiful, way bigger than we expected it to be—very charming!  Very charming!  Lots of places to stay and lots of restaurants.  We stopped at the Visitor’s Center retrieving all kinds of reading material and getting advice on kayaking.  The absolute one thing the lady said is “pay attention to the tide tables, or you will find yourself stranded on a mud flat!!!”  OK, all righty then!!

The little grocery store is well stocked—produce was a bit lacking but that’s OK, we found Sandy’s Produce Stand!  And not only did we buy some of those beautiful strawberries, we bought clams!  I cooked clams tonight for the first time in my life—steamed them with onion, garlic, lemon juice, butter and white wine—delicious!!!  And we won’t go thirsty here, the little grocery store had an excellent selection of wines!!!

We were pleasantly surprised with the little town of Cedar Key and are looking forward to exploring some more.

Jill and Terry, Jeane—this is a fabulous place with fabulous weather!  It was 72 degrees today, perfect!  We had our happy hour tonight outside in the sunshine, perfect!
