Some Days I Should Just Stay In Bed

Yesterday was one of those days!  If you will remember I took a job back in October, 2014 and have worked one time for this corporation—it is a contract type position, I am not paid when not working but paid well when I do work.  There are no promises of work hours made by the company and I do not promise them I will always take whatever assignment offered.  So, I’ve done this one assignment.  As with any company in this day and age, security is important and every 60 days I get an email saying it is time to change my email password—really??  Well guess where all the instructions for doing so are located—yep, in Montana.  That was the first glitch in my day—the password is now changed but not without some effort!

Next, I tried to print some tax documents—nothing—as in the paper came out of the printer with nothing on it—no marks, perfect white paper????  Tried a different browser, tried Michael’s laptop, still nothing.  Inserted a new black ink cartridge—nope, nothing.  This is a HP printer, purchased at Costco less than two years ago.  Michael Googled the issue and it’s a common problem with our particular printer!!  GRRRR  The cowboy took the thing completely apart—what did we have to lose—and followed some of the cleaning steps detailed on various forums—nope, still nothing.  So to the trash this printer will go and I am finished with any HP product!

We ordered a Brother printer with good reviews from Amazon.com—cheap—if it dies so what!

I went out to the cargo trailer to get something, came back in and shut the screen door—it broke—time to go back to bed don’t you think???

Thursday was Ellie’s birthday and Jim planned a celebration at their new home here in North Ranch.  Mike & Pat, Caryl & Jerry, Larry & Geri along with the two of us gathered for buffalo burgers, various salads and baked beans.  Jim made Ellie a Georgia peach cake which was very, very good!  Happy Birthday again Ellie—we loved celebrating with you!

Coming home after the birthday party last night it began to rain, rained all night and most of today.  I love it when rain falls in the desert—we have so many days of sunshine, it is nice to hear rain on the roof.  Rain refreshes the desert, makes the ATV riding less dusty and we hope all this rain brings out the cactus flowers later in the season.

Tonight we joined some friends for dinner at Qorri’s in Wickenburg, Geri and Larry chauffeured us over and on the way we spotted a spectacular rainbow.  The food was delicious and the company great!

  1. Agreed, Janna! Some days sure test one's metal. Glad you survived. Oh yes, HP products are those I avoid too.

  2. Our HP printer died a couple of weeks ago... we replaced it with another one from Walmart... would rather have bought another brand but needed it right then... don't expect it to perform well, but hope it holds out for a while. I think I'd like to hear the rain in the desert... do things turn green overnight?

  3. Hope the new printer is quick to arrive and easy to live with. Thanks again for being part of my birthday, the very best present is being with good friends!

  5. I really dread days like yours. Going back to bed and covering my head always seems like such a good idea. Today is going to be much much better for you.

  6. Yup...some days are like that! Makes the great days so much sweeter! We also had rain and I'm with you! Love the sound of rain on the roof...it provided nice background music to go along with the hum from my sewing machine!

  7. A little off subject..but, I recently made chili from a recipe you had posted and, not trying to patronize you, but this was probably THE BEST chili I have ever made or had. I love great chili. And, how can anyone have a really BAD day when living in 70-80 degree weather with an ATV at their disposal? Ride On.

  8. Printers are the weakest link of our computerized world. we had the same problem that was resolved by replacing all the ink cartridges, even though we only needed pages printed in black.

  9. When they're happening I'm pulling out my hair, but looking back I'm always grateful everything bad happened in one day and got it over with! Our HP printer will not talk to my Windows 8.1 at all so Bill gets to print anything we need. It amazes me that we all need printers in our homes these days - when did that happen? Trails are so wonderful after a rain - and the flowers will be out before the end of February!

  10. I also have my frustrations with HP printers; however, I stick with them because you can always get their ink delivered overnight with free shipping. I am done with looking for the correct ink only to find the store is out of the color I need.

I failed to tell you I cooked your spaghetti and shared the recipe with a friend. That recipe is a keeper .

  11. We were suppose to move to Why yesterday but John realized it was raining in this area. So we spent another day in Yuma where we had sunshine. The saguaro are SO fat here in the desert in Why!! I guess they had a ton of rain. There are even puddles!!

    Hope your days improve:)
