Death Valley

Early this morning we decided to take a drive over to Death Valley National Park—remote, barren, wild, scenic, dry, rocky, colorful—and full of tourists!  We were surprised to find Death Valley crowded so to speak—the visitor’s center was very crowded as were most of the pull-outs for scenic overlooks.  The park covers 3 million acres so “crowded” is a loosely used term but the areas for viewing the park by car were crowded.  We enjoyed our drive and will probably go back this week while we are here.

IMG_9687IMG_9699We thought this rock looked like a monster of some sort—see his slanting eyes and piggy nose??

Thanks to all of you who left comments about the anticipated birth of our great-grandchild—we think is is quite “great” too!

And, I finally solved the problem of the new iPad not wanting to connect with our Cradlepoint router.  Rick was right in that Cradlepoint routers have a problem with Apple devices.  Once I called Cradlepoint and was directed to re-configure the router settings the iPad connected immediately.  Yea, now I can download that quilt shop app Rick made so many disparaging remarks about!!  And Rick, how come the search engines on our blogs aren’t working??  Couldn’t search on my own blog yesterday and just tried to search your blog for the exact name you called the quilt shop app but your search engine isn’t working either??

  1. I am not sure why, but I am a bit surprised it was crowded. Great pictures! Happy New Year.

  2. Glad to read I am not the only one with a 'Search Bar' problem. It just started a few weeks ago.

  8. Great pics of Death Valley, I'm looking forward to visiting on our way home this year.

The Search Bar on Blogger seems to have quit for most everyone, don't know why exactly. However, you can use the Blogger search right next to the big 'B' on the top left of the NavBar - it works well and does pretty much what the sidebar search does.

Glad to hear you got the Cradlepoint router working. I'm sure the Cradlepoint techs know that answer off by heart as they've probably had a zillion calls from frustrated users about it.

The 'despicable app' Paulette uses is called Quilt Shops and here's the link:

  9. We never got to see those views in your photos. I just rained cats and dogs all three days during our recent stay in Pahrump. We'll get back there some day.
