As we make quilts, we quilters will say to one another, “what are you going to do with that one?” The answer is frequently, “I don’t know, put it in the pile I guess.” My Aunt Margaret is a prolific quilter and has stacks and stacks of completed quilts. I’m not prolific but I do seem to have lots of completed quilts.
A couple years ago I ordered a batch of Moda jelly rolls—precut rolls of 2.5 inch fabric strips. When the rolls arrived they didn’t look anything like the photo I saw on the internet—the fabrics weren’t exactly something I would chose or use in my home. But at one of the quilt retreats I decided to do something fun with one of the rolls and with a little help from my quilting buddy Jane, we picked border fabrics that really pulled the other fabrics together.
So—I am having a quilt giveaway. Leave a comment on this blog post and my random generator (aka the cowboy) will pick the winning number for this sweet little quilt. The measurements of the quilt are 57 inches by 74 inches. I will include shipping in the giveaway. We will pick the winning number Monday evening, July 13.
And here’s the quilt:
Good luck!
That is lovely! You are an inspiration for me to use up some fabrics.
ReplyDeleteWow! So generous of you. Know the feeling of ordering fabric and not caring for it once it arrived.
ReplyDeletePretty quilt! I'm hoping to some day get to the point where I have extra quilts around. Need to sew faster:)
ReplyDeleteMy wife have admired all the quilts you have shared pictures of. I have loved quilts ever since my Grandmother covered me with hers so many years ago. So nice of you to share the pictures and now an actual quilt.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute quilt! I can't believe you're giving it away! I'm still, at this point in my quilting experiences, trying to finish some of my first quilts. Someday I hope to get there. I need a bigger RV, to carry more supplies!
ReplyDeleteLong time reader, first time commenting. Lovely quilt, lovely blog!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great looking quilt. If you are looking for something to do with them why not donate to the Wounded Warriors and help support the vets.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Isn't it amazing how different things can look in real life from what they looked like on the computer?? :) The quilt turned out really cute though. Keep in mind that I DON'T need to win a quilt, but I bet my little granddaughter would love it.
ReplyDeleteVery long time reader, first time commenter...just thought I'd let you know that hubby and I left Florida 6 weeks ago to full time AND I got to go to the Sisters Quilt show today! Life is good :)
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt! I have followed your blog while going thru Chemo. It kept me going till we could get back on the road.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. I'm also a long time reader, first time to comment. I love jelly rolls, you never really know what you're going to get. Loved the way you put these together. I'm still pretty new to quilting, new enough to still keep count of how many I've done, which is 5. So very generous of you to give something away that you worked so hard on.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is reminding me of Montana. The alpine wildflowers, the Huckleberry ice cream, the snow capped mountains, even the antelope in the fields. What a beautiful piece!
ReplyDeleteAny quilt made by you has got to be special!
ReplyDeleteI read you blog daily. I love the quilt you made and the quilting is perfect.
ReplyDeleteWhat a generous opportunity. Your lovely quilt will certainly make someone feel very cozy. Thanks for the opportunity to win it. Ursula
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win the quilt it is beautiful. I follow your travels and adventures and enjoy it all. Thanks for sharing it with all of us
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely quilt, and I would lve to win it.
ReplyDeleteI think your a very clever lady. I'm not a quilter but have a aunt that is and she has
ReplyDeletemade lots of quilts too. I don't think its about needing another quilt, it's the challenge and the
creative genes at work. Wish I had that talent! Since I dont, maybe I'll win one.
How nice of you. 😊😊
My mom became a great quilter before she passed away--it gave her great comfort and she always gave away her quilts to make people smile. This reminds me of her :)
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt Janna! I love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI love reading about your quilting and seeing your talents with quilting and the long arm. I regularly recommend your blog to new RVers who worry about being able to quilt on the road. My grandmother always had a quilting frame that hung from the living room ceiling and was lowered whenever a top was ready to go. Six of her thirteen children (Mom was the second child) were girls and as one of her eldest granddaughters, I was included as we all gathered around to hand stitch her quilts together. The memory of her quilts and our gathering around them is something I will never forget! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to get the lurkers out in the open! I love your blog, Janna. What a beautiful quilt. I would love to win it.
ReplyDeleteMy mom told me about making "postage stamp" quilts out of leftover fabric.... I have several of her quilts but most are nearly in tatters, they've been used so much. I'm not a quilter but sure appreciate how much work (and love) goes into each one.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog and always look for your updates. My mom and 2 of her sisters were quilters. I am sitting under one of hers now. Your quilt is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely,
ReplyDeletecan you believe I have never had a quilt ?? Always admired them ...
Beautiful quilt. Although I hardly comment I had to today because that quilt is awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou always have beautiful quilts. But since I really don't have room for another quilt, if I win is there someplace it could be donated? Like to a women's shelter?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt would be great for the charity quilt drive we are having for one of the nursing homes in our town. Thank you for the chance!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful guilt Janna. I wish I had the sewing skills that you do!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your blog and about your travel adventures. Your quilt is beautiful. I have done some quilting, but it had Bernard many years ago. Thanks for the chance to adopt one of your wonderful quilts.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog and the stories of your travels. The scenery around both of your homes is fantastic although I do like the Montana scenery the best. My wife would love one of your quilts.
ReplyDeleteI guess this is the way to get all those lurkers out there to come forward! Free offer:) I was wondering what you did with all your quilting. That is the problem with a hobby of you don't have business. Family only has so many beds and tables and walls on which to display ones creations. This is a very geneous offer, Janna:) Thanks for thinking of us nonquilters:)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a neat quilte. Would love to give it a new home.
ReplyDeleteThat quilt would look nice on my bed.
ReplyDeletePick me, pick me.... I'll treasure it forever. On a side note, I didn't even know jelly rolls existed. Too bad you couldn't select the fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteWow. I would love to win that quilt. I just found your blog in the last couple of months and I really enjoy it. Keep up the good work ------ both with the blog and with your quilting.
ReplyDeletelovely quilt, thanks for the chance to win!!!
ReplyDeletePam said what I was thinking :-) I sold my antique quilt collection when we were purging the S&B and hadn't really noticed how similar in color they all were. Even with quilts, I guess we all have a type :-))))) What a fun idea, and a generous gift for the lucky winner.
ReplyDeleteI have loved reading your blog through the years, even before you spent several months in Texas. This is a fun opportunity to have a chance to win one of your beautiful quilts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely quilt :) And very generous of you to give it away! x
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet quilt! I keep meaning to make that pattern, but haven't gotten around to it. Thanks for the opportunity to win your quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe back is as pretty as the front! Your quilting is always so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really pretty quilt! I like the flower-shaped quilting, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThis quilt would be perfect for my granddaughter, Nellie.

Love this quilt. I look forward to each post
ReplyDeleteA perfect quilt for a young girl. My quilt group donates quilts to children at a shelter for abused woman and children. This would be perfect. 100 degrees in Colorado today!!
ReplyDeleteGee, Ms Pat would enjoy that.......
ReplyDeleteVery cute quilt! I'd love to be the lucky one! A perfect quilt for a little one-something to have for years.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and would be perfect to cuddle on the couch with my pup Bella to watch tv. I quilt but mainly small things. Can't get the hang of stippling!
ReplyDeleteWow! That is a beautiful quilt and I love those colours too!!! Thanks for the chance and your generous sole!!! I also make quilts for others as gifts and I often make table runners that I have just in case... 😉
ReplyDeleteBoy, I know what you mean when you say fabric doesn't look like what you thought it would when you saw it online. I've done that too many times and now don't trust myself. You and your friend did a fantastic job of coordinating the borders! They really make the blocks pop! It is a gorgeous quilt and would love to get cozy with it!
ReplyDeleteI think I see trees on the fabric! I love trees! Beautiful quilt! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMy lucky day ...... Been away for a while .... Just back in time to see this lovely piece of your handy work !!! Thanks soooooo much for sharing and giving us all a chance !!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful quilt you completed. You are truly a generous soul to give it away after all that work. Thanks for the opportunity to possibly own the quilt.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet quilt to giveaway. You are too kind. Someone will treasure this for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteOh my....everybody is getting in on the act ;-) the quilt is beautiful and somebody will be very lucky. You are very generous. Good luck to us all.
ReplyDeletethis is absolutely gorgeous. I'm inspired.
ReplyDeletePut my "number" in the hat if you will. That is a beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt. Border fabrics (or not having a border) make a huge difference in the appearance of a quilt. I love that you found a way to handle a problem I hate with online ordering. I can never trust a photo to be accurate on color, so color matching with fabrics I already have is a nightmare. I see now why people love the collection bundles so much. (toss my name in the hat)
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS QUILT!!!! Would be so delighted to win something so Special from you! Thanks for the chance! : )
ReplyDeleteNow that is really cute!!!! It would go good in almost any RV as a small throw quilt to keep on the back of the couch, wrap around the passengers' legs on a cold morning drive, or even to cuddle up around the shoulders in a lawn chair around the campfire!
ReplyDeleteCount me in! Love having a chance to win one of your beautiful quilts...
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you are giving away this lovely quilt! How generous! Thanks for hance to win, and thanks for your fun blog! You are living my dream!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOK....I'll try my luck. Maybe this will be my lucky day. Mike and I are flying to Scottsdale this afternoon for his monthly check up at the Mayo Clinic. We will be tied up most of the day tomorrow with his tests and then fly back home on Wednesday. Terri is here to take us to the airport and take care of MegaByte while we are gone. Greg and Em are parked in the front yard and so are some friends from Tallahassee. They will be staying with us for a couple of weeks. At least Terri will have some company while we are gone. Thanks for the quilt give away. Hugs................Pat
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely quilt. Anyone would be lucky to win it, maybe it could be me. It's very generous of you, Thank you.
