Getting Ready

A beautiful day, sunny and warm—it might get to be summer soon, you think??  I spent most of the day getting ready for my trip—I am off to Austin, TX tomorrow morning.  In 1995 I went to work for the Kimberly-Clark Corporation as a nurse with my friend Kelly.  Three nurses—Shirley, Linda and Elaine all ready worked for KC.  The five of us became good friends and have kept in close touch through the years.  Shirley and her husband Willie are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday and we four nurses are going to help her celebrate!  Can’t wait to see everyone—it has been a while.

The garden got weeded, I made soup and bread so Michael won’t starve while I am gone, ironed clothes and now I am getting ready to go pack.

Michael worked on his dirt bike and replaced some decking boards down at Joe and Tammy’s house—they are coming for a week long stay starting next Monday.

On our walk this morning Michael spotted a doe with twin fawns in our haystack.  Our chatter startled her and the babies and off she went—with Emmi in hot pursuit for only a moment—that doe turned on Emmi and was about to get her when I ran up and waved my arms and shouted.  Maybe Emmi learned a lesson today???Deer and fawns

  1. Oh my thank goodness you were there to distract the doe from kicking poor Emmi! They can be very protective--- one once kicked our huge husky/shepherd mix and he FLEW across the river back to our side, and I don't think he touched the water once with his paws!

    Have fun in Texas!

  2. Yep it was Emmi's lucky day, a good size doe could have a fatal effect on a small dog, even a larger one for that matter. Hope she did learn a lesson, when it's ten times your size lezve it alone. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
