Busy, Busy, Scurry, Scurry

When Michael’s Dad moved back to this area in 2000 he brought with him a portable sawmill.  We built a shed to house this mill—Nat and Michael have used it on occasion.  The plan for today was for Nat to come up and give Michael some more pointers on sawing logs into useable boards.  Well, the best laid plans don’t always work, do they—when we went for our walk we discovered the irrigating water had gotten a little out of hand (or a lot out of the ditch) during the night and water was standing in the sawmill shed.  No lumber making today!

I scurried out to the post office and mailed a box of finished quilts to Aunt Marg.  I scurried around all day doing loads of laundry.  We had leftovers for lunch and after lunch I quilted, finishing a customer quilt.  See, I was scurrying today!

A friend in town who owns a greenhouse business sent via one of our dinner guests the other night a beautiful pot of various flowering plants to LoraLee.  Tonight was a good night for going over to the West Boulder and making a delivery—I made another rhubarb crisp and off we went.  We had hamburgers on the grill along with some roasted potatoes, watermelon and that rhubarb crisp for dessert.

While at Lonn and LoraLee’s we enjoyed a thunderstorm with a nice rain shower.  It was much cooler today than yesterday, too.

  1. I hope the folklore is correct, enough rain for a while. Enjoy the day!!

  2. Thanks for mentioning Rhubarb Crisp! Paulette made one last week and then most of it disappeared into the freezer! I think I'll sneak in and take it out. The water in that river seems to be moving along pretty fast.

  3. My mother always mixed strawberries when she made anything with rhubarb - so yummy! :-)
