We are on a roll—another beautiful day, a little windy but warm and sunny. When we left just after Thanksgiving I gave my “tree” to our friend Nancy. It has lived in her swimming pool room all winter—the other day I got an email from the tree saying it missed us —we took the Kawasaki mule up to their house today and brought the homesick tree back to our house. My parents sent the tree to my partner Kathy and me when we opened the store, Cinnabar Creek, in April of 1999. It was just a small little Norfolk pine but over the years it has grown and grown—I am 5’ 9” tall and the tree is now taller than me. I never do anything to it but water it and occasionally prune the dead limbs.
Well, Michael decided he didn’t like where he put the huge rock yesterday so he moved it again today??? In this photo the rock base is about 3 feet under dirt—it’s one huge rock!
Tonight we enjoyed having our East/West Boulder friends here for dinner. When we are all together we make ten people—it’s a lively group with lots of good fun and conversation. The food was delicious if I do say so myself—green salad with apples and toasted pecans dressed with Boulder River Ranch poppy seed dressing, homemade bread, lasagna and Gina’s chocolate pie for dessert.
Another wonderful day up the Boulder! We are so blessed!
Big tree/bigger rock:)
ReplyDeletenice to have the tree home again!~ your dinner sounded delicious!
ReplyDeleteone year at a Christmas party each couple got one of these, there were about 5 inches high and in a little pot. We took ours but I thought in a couple months it would be dead. Boy did that grow, it got to be about size of yours.
ReplyDeleteNice Norfolk Pine. We used to have one but I do not recall if we gave it away during one of our many corporate moves.
ReplyDeleteThat is one huge rock to move and it helps to have the right equipment.
Dinner with friends is truly special.
The top branch on that tree looks like it's floating in space.
ReplyDeleteNow I understand what you mean when you say you are going up the boulder... you're climbing that rock. ;)
Love the tree!! It looks so healthy.
ReplyDeleteDinner sounded yummy, especially the salad.
I sure wouldn't want to be moving that rock around too often - it's huge. Dinner sounded terrific!
