Once A Cowboy Always A Cowboy And Helicopters

While at Nat’s the other evening, he gave Michael a box of old photographs.  We thumbed through the photos while sitting there with Nat—what amazing history was in that box.  My favorite photograph in all the ones I saw that evening was this one of my cowboy on a horse called Tom Thumb--

Mike on Tom Thumb 001Isn’t he just the cutest cowboy you ever saw??  And still is on this Valentine’s Day!

Michael is sorting all these photographs plus others we had into groups and albums.  This afternoon he brought me the following two photographs which he doesn’t remember ever seeing—Michael’s mother Joy is the child sitting in the doorway and Michael’s grandmother Flora is in the middle.  The other woman is a cousin.  They lived in Detroit and were on a vacation to the Upper Peninsula.

Michael can usually identify most any car but he is having trouble with this one—any ideas blogging world??

We don’t usually exchange Valentine’s Day gifts—we give each other cards, usually homemade and if we are near a Costco close to Valentine’s Day, Michael will buy me flowers—I got white roses this year:

IMG_9963Well, this year Michael’s been a little down considering all that been happening around here plus the miserable weather so I decided he needed a little treat--

IMG_9965He got a remote control helicopter—he had asked for one as a Christmas gift but I had all ready purchased the Garmin hand held GPS unit, so the helicopter had to wait.  Emmi hates the thing!!

IMG_9967Wait, come back, come back—can you see the black dot in the top center of the photo??  The cowboy was having a little trouble with the controls, the helicopter went out of sight of the controller and crashed on the other side of that steep hill.  So, we climbed the hill and spent quite a bit of time searching before we finally found the helicopter.  Operator error to say the least!! SmileSmile

Here’s a very short video of me trying to catch the dang thing with the camera--

It was a good Valentine’s Day here in Montana—and happy birthday Chuck!!

  1. You need to buy that boy some new jeans. He's got a bad case of SOMB or Saggy Old Man Butt LOL

    1. I am still laughing--I almost didn't use that photo due to the baggy butt syndrome--my cowboy actually looks good in his Wranglers but the jeans he is wearing in the photo are some of those stupid fire retardant ones he had to purchase and wear when working on the oil rig in TX last winter--not only are the jeans heavy but they don't fit!! He's wears them only around the ranch trying to get some wear out of the stupid expensive things!

  2. Great fun. Our son and son in law got one each for Christmas, one full year ago. They love to fly those toys.

Good touch with the white roses!

  7. What great photos! You are so fortunate to have a piece of your history after all those years. Frankly, I don't see a thing wrong with those jeans... you haven't seen Bill, have you? He doesn't have a butt so even his underwear sags ;-)

    1. Oh my--that's a good one, "even his underwear sags!" It's one of the things I admired about Michael when we married--his rear view look really, really good in a pair of Wranglers. But like I said above, those are Wranglers but not the kind he normally wears.

  8. Great looking cowboy on a great looking horse. Love those stirrups. Also, nice pics of the old RV. Wouldn't you just love to have it around as a restoration project? Bet he gets the hang of that helicopter before you get back to Arizona.

  9. I had to laugh at Nancy's comment. Jim is like Bill - no butt so sag is in. That picture of Michael on the horse is priceless.

  10. Great old pictures. Hating those helicopters must a naturally be a dog thing. Halley goes crazy when I fly mine around the house:)
