The Park Filled Again

When the snowbirds started their exodus about a week ago, I counted 24 empty sites in this RV park.  Today there are only about four spots left, the rest filled with workers—welders, pipefitters, etc.  The people who live in the park fulltime are not happy with this direction.  And we can see both sides of the story.  We’ve been in RV parks as retirees, sleeping in, not a care in the world—when at 5am the big diesel truck starts up outside our bedroom windows—UGH.  We are also now one of the workers, granted Michael and Rollie aren’t driving diesel pickups but any vehicle starting up at 5am outside your window is probably inclined to wake you.  But we also see the side of the RV park owner.  Here in Aransas Pass the RV parks are not well utilized in the summer, some do have a healthy contingency of fishermen, especially those near the water.  The owner of this park has filled it with workers who will be here long term—they pay the rent I guess.

I am loving having that laundromat so close by—it’s amazing what makes a girl happy isn’t it???  I do most of our laundry in our onboard washer/dryer but some things I would rather do at the laundromat—sheets, towels, and my husband’s diesel stinky work pants and shirt from the other night!

JB—you missed it—that is Bugaboo Glacier and the bear we spotted on the way into Bugaboo Glacier.  I would have to get my map out to remember exactly where we were when we took the drive but I remember it as being a highlight of our Canadian trip that year before we met up with you guys.

Windy and very warm here today.

Dinner tonight is pork tenderloin, Pioneer Woman’s Crash Hot Potatoes and green beans.  For dessert I made a Key Lime Pie from Pinterest—will let you know how it turns out.

  1. Dang it, Brenda and I were up that road from Spillamacheen a few years ago but didn't go up that far. As for the others it is hard to forget the spot where you were married or a little lake that I would love to have a cabin overlooking.

  3. That's a tough one for the RV parks. I, too, can see both sides but I do hate those trucks in the AM.

Lucky you have the laundry for the work clothes. It is great having the on board washer/dryer, however.

Would love the Key Lime pie recipe!

  6. I also understand the RV park owner's decision. An empty space is an empty space!

That is a great photo of Brenda and JB in that pretty mountain country. I would like a little cabin near there too!
