Church And A Cookout

IMG_8274-001Rollie took this photo last night just after dark—you can even see our little Charlie Brown Christmas tree in the motorhome.

I decided to try another church this morning and went to First United Methodist Church in Rockport.  What an absolute pleasure!!  The music—there was a bell choir as well as the usual choir, the people and the minister were a delight!  The minister is a woman and gave one of the best sermons I’ve ever heard—one thing she said really stuck with me: “Saying you are sorry does not mean you think the other person is right, it just means you think the relationship is more important than being right.”  I will definitely go back to this church.

After church I tried out the HEB store in Rockport—awesome grocery store—if only we had one of these in Big Timber, MT—yea, right!!!  I purchased some great cheddar cheese, kaiser rolls for burgers and some in store made warm tortillas!

At home Michael was examining the back side of his eyelids after trying to get our air conditioners to perform correctly.  We have three and the third one located in the bedroom is not showing up on the thermostat—which means it doesn’t work.  So far we are doing fine with just one but come summer, we may need that bedroom one.  He hasn’t totally located the issue but my bets are on him!

Rollie and Michael made a trip over to Corpus Christi this afternoon to try on the uniform clothing they will be ordering tomorrow.  They also visited the super HEB in that city—Michael said, “that’s the biggest grocery store I’ve ever seen.”

When they returned home we invited Rick (the boss) over and I made hamburgers, roasted potatoes, and caramelized onions and peppers.  Delicious!

Life is very good in Texas right now.

  5. Just so you know, there is an HEB in Portland that is nice also. Not a super store, but nice. Get on south access road at second exit and you'll see the sign. The super one in Flour Bluff is fantastic. Glad you found Mustang Island beaches, it will be much closer for you to walk there. They also have a sandfest in the spring where they build all kinds of big scenes and have vendors on the beach. Don't know how they get it to stay together, but the sand scenes are really neat.

  8. We were campground hosts at Padre Island National Seashore last year and discovered the HEB Plus. I love that store, can't think of an item I wasn't able to find there.
