Busy, Busy Monday

Guess I will get on the complaining bandwagon—there is so little going on around here except work—it is hard to think of blog material in the evening!  But here goes—don’t fall asleep!!

Mondays’ are the days I choose to do laundry such as sheets and towels.  It was a beautiful sunny day so the sheets went out to dry in the sun—now, isn’t that exciting??

Summertime is an incredibly busy time when you own 40 acres—weeds need spraying, grass needs cutting, garden needs tending—I find it hard to carve out enough time to quilt.  Yesterday I had a meltdown about the 4th time someone—dog or husband—interrupted me while I was quilting.

So, today I made a resolution—quilting will be done first—now I’ve put it in writing and will have to stick with it.  So, I quilted for 4 hours today before tackling any other chores except making lunch.  Four hours at a stretch is about all my neck and shoulders can tolerate and even then I need a break in between.

Michael finished Geoff and Nancy’s fence today except for the gate and not a minute too soon.  Their new puppy comes home the end of this week, exciting!

IMG_3460Walked around the irrigation ditch today making sure there were no surprises such as washed out areas—there is water flowing in the ditch.

IMG_3462When walking around the ditch we are probably on one of the highest spots located on our land, looking down on the valley.

OK, are you still awake??

  1. Have you ever eaten a commercial frozen dinner? Don't know why that popped into my head, but it did. You always seem to be making such elaborate meals. :)

Beautiful picture of the valley! Love the way you framed it with the branches of the tree, very pretty. I so appreciate the fact that you make such an effort to post each day. Enjoy reading your posts but most importantly I have a nice routine of checking blogs each evening to unwind and I can always count on yours. Some that I read daily aren't so much daily anymore. I get hooked on them and they don't post but once a week or ever couple of weeks. I hate to get hooked and then they decide they don't want to post any longer. So, I really appreciate your effort to maintain your blog. Thank you! Love seeing your quilt pictures too and reading about your dog, she's a doll! So don't worry about keeping your readers from being bored, sometimes some of us just really enjoy hearing about your daily life, gives us a chance to take a peak in and see how things are! Knowing others are out and around the country that face the same challenges we all do, dogs/husbands/cooking/working. At the end of the day, it's all worth it! Thank you!!

  9. Beautiful photo...it's great to hear the ordinary stuff, and that everybody struggles now and then with what to say and wanting to keep their blogs interesting.

    Howdy Janna & Mike,
What's boring? I like just knowing y'all are having fun being together!! All
of Mike's 'projects', your quilting and especially the cooking are enjoyable
tome and Miss Emmi's doings; playing ball, chasing squirrels!! Do y'all just have 40 acres?? Our 'ranch' is only 42.3 acres, but we have a herd of six miniature horses, including a brand new baby, a POA filly, a donkey, a goat, a red-heeler dog and ???cats... It's a mini-ranch!! This is one blog I really enjoy.. It doesn't hurt that my name is Jim, too, also!!

  12. I find that I am most creative in the morning, so that is when I set aside time to weave, spin or knit. Then, and only then, when I tire of it, I go up and do mundane things like housework, cooking, or laundry.

Feed the creative beast first, and then my life seems to be in order!
