Friday In McLeod

Michael was off and running again this morning heading back over to Lonn’s for more digging.  Emmi and I took a walk noticing the chokecherry trees are budding and about to sprout leaves.  This is way early for us here in cold country—we didn’t have leaves last year until almost the end of May!!  Strange weather all over the country.

In between ballgames with Emmi I spent the day in the quilting room.  Almost made a really serious mistake that could have cost me a trip to the repair shop with my sewing machine.  When using a sewing machine for just straight stitching you use a “single hole needle plate.” IMG_2803 When you use the machine to do decorative stitches or embroidery because the needle has to move sideways instead of just straight up and down you use a needle plate with an oblong shaped needle hole.

IMG_2802At the sewing class the other day we all talked about the two different plates, I mentally reminded myself to change plates and what did I do—took off embroidering with the single hole plate in place.  It worked for a VERY short while then everything came to a screeching halt—broke the thread but by some miracle it did not break the needle.  Once I fixed my mess I used the machine for embroidery the rest of the day and it worked perfectly, WHEW!!

I have a quilt top for quilting which belongs to LoraLee—it is a stunning pattern with very rich colors.  Got the backing ready to go on the machine today while the embroidery unit was running.

Michael arrived home around 6pm and we enjoyed a delicious dinner—now we’ve all got our feet up and are relaxing, Emmi included.IMG_2799

  1. Whew! Glad you didn't wreck the machine or put it out of timing by doing that. OUCH!

  3. Maybe a check list would help. When I get distracted in the motorhome, I just pull out the check list and make sure I have not overlooked something that will cost me money:)
