Muggy, Muggy

When we got up this morning and after Michael had taken Emmi out I said something about how nothing would dry, my dishcloths stay damp and start to smell—something that doesn’t happen in Montana or Arizona’s low humidity.  Michael’s comment, “the damp is in the air” is an understatement today—it feels as if the air is heavy with moisture.  Haven’t needed much moisturizer here in Florida!!

We took our four mile hike this morning sweating buckets—Emmi was even dragging.  We spotted this bird who stayed still long enough for a couple shots—an eastern towhee (how am I doing Judy??)

The rest of our day was spent in going through the mountain of mail we received from home, thanks LoraLee!!  Lots of newspapers and magazine—reading material!  I bathed Miss Emmi, she was a grubby puppy!  I am loving using the washer/dryer in the coach this season—yes it takes a long time to dry clothes but what do I have other than time????  The RV park is full with a line forming every day to use the TWO washer/dryers on the porch—I am thankful I have my own!

This afternoon I walked across the lawn to give our neighbors a business card with the blog address so she could see a photo of her Freeway dog.  We ended up staying for an adult beverage and visiting.  I love hearing stories of how people got into RVing—they are fulltimers using a huge toyhauler with the garage space as an office.  Matt still works some as an architect.

Delicious Cedar Key raised clams for dinner—life is good!

  2. Janna, can you use your washer/dryer in just "dryer" mode? When we get into those super-humid conditions, I toss the towels and washclothes in the dryer after we are through with our showers and washing up - I HATE trying to dry off with a wet towel!

Here in Tucson, humidity definitely is not a problem, and I use about a quarter cup of moisturizer every day!

  3. Only been to Florida in the summer where I got to understand the term sweating buckets. If that wasn't damp enough you could generally count on a daily dose of liquid sunshine.

We're already booked for Cedar Key next February. Maybe we'll see you then.

    It's about time.

  6. It's your friendly "stalker" again - hehe Wanted to pass along a hint that I read some time ago about the washer/dryer. Mine is a Splendid (sp??) model. The hint was to set the washer for wash only and when it finishes to take the items out, shake them out and then put them back in for the dryer to work better.

Something else I have found is that since it is usually a small load anyway, put a dry towel in with items to dry - shortens the time needed. I usually save bigger/heavier items for the laundromat and just do smaller, light weight things in the washer.

I also just read about a new show set in Montana on Animal Planet, The Last American Cowboy - any friends of yours?

  7. I also love my Splendide. It is so nice to wash clothes in my own machine. It does take awhile to dry but I am usually sewing or something so the times flies by. I usually air dry jeans and then put them in the dryer to soften them up some.
My "pink" coach will be moving to Biloxi next Thursday. LOL! Just thought i would throw that in and let it tumble around. LOL!
    Have a great week-end.

  9. We love our washer/dryer too. When I wash the clothes, most often right before bedtime. I take them out and hang them on hangers and we hang them from all the upper cabinet handles around the rig. It looks like a chinese laundry! LOL But then in the morning they are all dry and ready to put away.

I also have a collapsible clothes rack that fits in the bathtub to hang things on too, especially the socks and underthings.
