New Tires

The plan was to leave early (8am) for Yuma to get new tires for our little car. Yuma is about 90 miles from here and Jim & Ellie were going to follow us in their car. I was awake at 5:15 so just went ahead and got up. Emmi and I were just coming back in from outside when our cellphone rang--at 5:30am!!--it was our granddaughter in Iraq, she has been there almost four months and hasn't quite figured out that time difference! Oh, well, I was up and we had a nice chat.

On to Yuma through the road construction and to Discount Tire. The place was mobbed--thank goodness we had an appointment! We left the car there and took off in Jim and Ellie's. First stop was Best Buy looking for a GPS, next stop Sports Authority for the same thing with no luck. A stop at Sam's Club using Jim and Ellie's membership was next--got a few things--not much room in a motor home for Sam's Club size packages. OK, now we are hungry--Famous Dave's looks good. I had one of the best lunches I have had in a long time--a smoked salmon caesar salad. The guys had burgers of some sort and Ellie had the bar-b-que salad.

Ellie and I convinced the guys post lunch to go to Harbor Freight while we shopped at Dillards. We both found a couple of tops we couldn't live without. I tried on walking sandals by Ecco, comfortable and they fit but the price was a lot higher than what I had seen on the internet site Ellie told me about, Zappo.com. So I will order sandals and then order a GPS from Amazon.com. What did we do before the internet??

We picked the little car up and headed home stopping at the roadside farmers market for fresh produce. All the pooches were extremely glad to see us. Our pooch stayed with Dave again today.

Sunrise over the desert this morning. Another great day!
