Chicken With My Head Chopped Off

Ever heard that saying, “running around like a chicken with its head chopped off?”  Well that was me today.  Had planned to clean house at Joe and Tammy’s but that didn’t materialize.  The only thing I accomplished was making lunch and a good lunch it was—chicken fettuccine, salad, green beans, and homemade bread.

After lunch Mom and I headed in to town—Mom for a haircut and me to attend a funeral.  My quilting friend Mary’s 90 year old Mom died suddenly last Friday and today was her funeral.  Ruth was an interesting woman—born in Montana she graduated from Columbia University in New York with a master’s degree in English and taught at the University of Montana in Missoula.  Not many women from that era even attended college!  Mary said her Mom was still sharp as a tack!

Michael was off helping our neighbors this morning and has been working on a metal project this afternoon.  Chuck has been keeping the home fires burning along with Emmi.

When Mom and I got home I finished planting the herbs and lavender I purchased recently—all my plants are outside on the porch but under the eaves of the roof—raining too much to put the poor things out on the deck railing.

We had spinach salads for dinner using Patchwork Times Judy’s recipe for the dressing—very, very good!  Here’s a photo of my roasted chicken from the other day, isn’t he pretty:

  1. We actually got to see the sun this afternoon. So exciting. I don't remember that last time I saw the state this green.

  2. That countryside is beautiful (as is the chicken). It looks like Ireland. I hope we start to warm up soon - supposed to see some break in this rain tomorrow over here.
